Lesson Plan – 1.1: Introduce Yourself. Live, Study and Work.

2. Learning Objectives

  • Students will be able to introduce themselves and others using basic personal information.
  • Students will understand and use greetings and farewells appropriately in everyday situations.
  • Students will use the verbs to live, to work, and to study in simple sentences.

3. Skills Developed

  • Listening: Recognize greetings and introductions in audio dialogues.
  • Speaking: Exchange personal information in pairs and small groups.
  • Reading: Identify and understand short texts with self-introductions.
  • Writing: Write short paragraphs introducing themselves.

4. Language Focus

  • Grammar: Verb to be; simple present of live, work, study.
  • Vocabulary: Greetings, introductions, personal details, occupations, cities.
  • Functions: Introducing yourself and others; asking for and giving personal information.
  • Pronunciation: Intonation in greetings and yes/no questions.

  • Class video and slides (AG.1.1.1 – AG.1.1.7)
  • Listening tracks and flashcards
  • Worksheets: ERG.1.1.1 (Solved exercises), EPG.1.1.1 (Proposed exercises)

6. Lesson Procedure

Stage Time Activities
Warm-up 10 min Teacher greets students and asks basic questions (“How are you?”, “What’s your name?”). Students respond and greet each other in pairs. Quick discussion about ways to greet in their own language.
Presentation 15 min Introduce vocabulary for greetings, introductions, and farewells. Present grammar points: Verb to be; use of live, work, study. Students repeat and complete short examples on board.
Practice 20 min Pair work: ask and answer questions about personal details (“Where do you live?”, “Do you work?”). Listening activity with short dialogues. Controlled practice using worksheets (ERG.1.1.1).
Production 10 min Role play: Students introduce themselves to a new classmate. Short group presentations (2–3 students) introducing each other.
Wrap-up 5 min Quick review of key expressions and verbs. Feedback and correction of common pronunciation errors. Assign homework.

7. Assessment

  • Formative: Observation of participation, pronunciation, and accuracy during pair work.
  • Summative: Completion of worksheet (EPG.1.1.1) and self-introduction paragraph (homework).

8. Homework

Write a short paragraph (5–7 sentences) introducing yourself: name, age, city, occupation or studies, and one personal detail.

9. Reflection

Students reflect on how English greetings differ from those in their native language and on the importance of pronunciation and tone in communication.
